Facts Regarding PVC Coated Rigid Steel Conduit

Fast Wrap Productions is a San Francisco Bay Area based company that produces high-quality, built to specification, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) coated rigid steel conduit and pipe.  Our product has the most continuous PVC coverage available on the market today. Installed properly by trained personnel, Fast Wrap’s conduit has zero separation of coverage.  Our competitors, including Ocal (Mobile, Alabama) and Rob-Roy Industries (Gilmer, Texas), as well as Perma-Cote, Kor-Kap and Plasti- Bond Red2Hot cannot meet that level of protection as documented in the Guidelines for Installing Steel Conduit / Tubing (Steel Tube Institute of North America, section 6.5.2.), which states, “Sleeves on PVC-coated conduit couplings and fittings are provided to insure continuous coating protection”. Protection is added because the coating is separate ,not continuous, between a section and fitting. This provides protection and makes the coating more resistant to corrosion penetration, but the coating is not continuous.

Our products are manufactured with Underwriters Laboratory (UL) listed materials, and are approved for Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD) projects.

With your Rigid Metallic Conduit (RMC) or Intermediate Metallic Conduit (IMC) and 20 mil. PVC corrosion resistant, all weather tape, Fast Wrap will produce approved  PVC COATED RIGID STEEL CONDUIT that is ready to install at a rate of up to 1,500’ per workday, depending on size.

Fast Wrap Productions provides an economical, environmentally sound and user friendly alternative to both the liquid PVC processed type product, (e.g. Ocal and Rob-Roy) and the time consuming field wrap method. And,  unlike traditional suppliers, Fast Wrap’s products offer superior corrosion protection, when properly installed, with zero separation of coverage at couplings and fittings.

Fast Wrap’s innovative mass-production field-wrapping method produces PVC coated rigid steel conduit that surpasses Ocal and Rob-Roy’s ability to protect conduit and pipe against all corrosive environments, with the most continuous coverage available.  Already, Fast Wrap’s method has been used to produce an estimated 15,000 feet of 1” PVC coated rigid steel conduit used in the construction of the Parking Structure/ Trauma Center at John Muir Hospital in Walnut Creek, California in 2007.  The conduit produced using Fast Wrap’s method on this job was required by the electrical engineer on record, (EEOR) and then approved by OSHPD inspectors.

Fast Wrap’s finished product has a minimum 80 mils. of physical protection, which is twice the protection of the traditional suppliers (such as Ocal and or Rob-Roy) at a 30 percent to 45 percent savings for the end user. A comparison of the costs is given in the table below.

In addition to Fast Wrap’s lower overall costs, we provide higher profitability for contractors with faster and easier installations.  Fast Wrap’s products do not require the timely and expensive installation procedures that our competition does, nor the various expensive extra’s that are needed to thread and bend the conduit, also sold by traditional suppliers.

Fast Wrap Productions has raised the bar on corrosion protection with tried and true methods and applications; improving the time-tested, accepted and approved practice of field-wrapping rigid steel conduit.

Fast Wrap’s products are industry standard.  Our finished product, straight lengths of 10 and 20 foot conduit, are compatible with traditional supplier’s PVC coated fittings.  And, our spiral, double wrap process is consistent with specifications and requirements provided by Mazzetti & Associates, San Francisco, California.
Our products are wrapped with either polyvinyl chloride or polyethylene tape, per the IAPMO Directory
.

We meet or exceed all applicable specifications, including the following:

Underwriters Laboratory (UL-6)
American National Standards Institute (C 80-6)
National Electrical Code (Article 345-3b, 346).

Our products will protect your electrical system from the most demanding corrosive environments.  Industrial applications include:

Hospitals
Water and wastewater treatment plants
Chemical plants
Dairy facilities
Pharmaceutical industry
Oil refineries and drilling platforms
